SOLUTION SHOW
Chicago-area artists come together for an exhibition of "Solutions" offering an extensive body of contemporary works presenting answers to world problems ranging from the interpersonal to the global. Curated by Ed Paschke, The Chicago Solution Show has 50 works selected from 300 entries.

Group Show
This Group Show includes work in installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and video by students and alumni of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Artists showing their work are Lisa Boumstein-Smalley, Dianna Frid, Rosalynn Gingerich, Jung Mee Jamie Kim, Judith Leemann, Huong Ngo, John Reth, Eli Robb, Darrell Roberts, and Sumakshi Singh.

Zounds
This exhibition examines the image of the wound in contemporary art and society. Participating artists, which include Judith Brotman, Mariano Chavez, Henry Darger, Brian Dettmer, Michael Hernandez de Luna, Steve Hudson, Conor McGrady, Teresa Mucha, Greg Porcaro, and others, are imbued with the religious, philosophical, and aesthetic implications of the wound.

HOT SPOT
This special preview of the annual Undergraduate Exhibition provides the general public with the opportunity to view the work of over 200 graduating students before the exhibition opens. Student artists are available to discuss their work, with many pieces available for purchase.

UNDERGRADUATE EXHIBITION
Over 200 School of the Art Institute of Chicago students completing either the bachelor of fine arts or the bachelor of interior architecture degrees exhibit work in all media. Studio areas represented are art and technology, ceramics, fashion, fiber, film, interior architecture, painting and drawing, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, sound, video, and visual communication.

FRIDA KAHLO, DIEGO RIVERA, AND 20TH CENTURY MEXICAN ART: THE JACQUES AND NATASHA GELMAN COLLECTION
On view at the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum through April 27, 2003, the exhibition contains 15 Frida Kahlo works, the largest ensemble to be seen outside of Mexico. Visitors have the opportunity to view Kahlo's paintings such as "Self-Portrait with Monkeys" (1943), as well as her "Self-Portrait with Red and Gold Dress" (1941) and "Diego on My Mind" (1943).

BLUES FROM AROUND THE WORLD WITH YOKO NOGE
University of Chicago Jazz X-tet's winter concert will take you across the Pacific Ocean to Japan. Adopted by cultures around the world, blues is a musical form that helps people celebrate life. Female jazz vocalist and songwriter Yoko Noge will join the Jazz S-tet, under the direction of Mwata Bowden, singing both traditional and original blues composed and arranged by Ms. Noge.

EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL
The Gene Siskel Film Center presents its sixth annual European Union Film Festival. The opening night movie on March 7 will be the Greek film Brazilero, a tragicomic adventure. The European Union Film Festival features 30 Chicago premieres.

PAC/EDGE PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL
More than 100 multi-disciplinary performances will be featured from Chicago's performing arts community. Featured in the PAC/edge Performance Festival are nine core companies and nine additional artists and companies presenting a mix of world premieres and revivals of critically-acclaimed work. The public is invited to participate in a series of workshops, led by members of several of the PAC/edge Performance Festival's companies and artists, as well as PAC's resident performance group, Goat Island; two panel discussions regarding the collaborative process and the responsibilities of critics; and two evenings that give unknown artists their 8 Minutes of Fame, PAC's twist on a traditional open-mic night.
