Founded by Hamlin Garland, a writer, the club was a haven for many famous artists and writers in its prime days. Members like Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan. The desk in the photograph is the very desk that Sullivan sat down at in his final years and wrote his autobiography. The desk now sits in the club but not in a case or behind ropes, not at this club, it is used like all of the other furniture, every day.
